I was thrilled to be a part of the Miss O & Friends event this year at the Canvas 3.0 Gallery in NYC during NFTnyc. The family-friendly event celebrated the launch of Miss O Cool Girls BUIDL Web3 Education Hub, focusing on teaching girls about blockchain technology while showcasing the work of young female artists. The thin electronic displays on the walls (which can rotate!) were filled with art from all the amazing female artists from the SuperRare Moxie Gallery.
The event was set up with several stations leading attendees along a path of activities in quest for a stamp on a “passport” they received upon entering the room. The first stop was with Mini Hackers who had worksheets welcoming them into Web3. Then the attendees moved to the station where they opened a digital wallet, and were given $100 in ETH, from Girls Who Mint.
Next was my station, MintKit. I walked the attendees through our Web3 tool that allows them to design digital wallpapers. The wallpapers used Miss O branded NYC hats as the main graphic. To start designing, they used their phones to scan a QR code and once in the app they chose from several hats with NY boroughs on them, Brooklyn, Queens, New York, Staten Island & Bronx.
Once they chose the hat, they then could pick 4 colors that they wanted on their wallpaper. Each color they clicked, you can see the color appear on two custom graphic backgrounds, one was a leopard print and the other was small roses, both designed by Miss O artist, Hermine Brindak. Once all the colors were selected, they downloaded it and saved it as their phone wallpaper. It was so much fun seeing their big smiles as they showed me their creations.
It was exciting to see how MintKit’s tool connected the attendees with the Miss O & Friends brand in new and meaningful ways. Now, each attendee has a Miss O wallpaper on their phone, a fun reminder of the event every time they pick up their phone.
The next stop on the tour was at Frank Romo’s @Love3_Theory station, where attendees colored in wooden heart necklaces with markers. Their mission is to remind us to spread love and positivity to all those you encounter today, especially the person in the mirror.
Lunch was made by the lovely people from Rice Cookers! Thank you @NFTeazy, it was especially delicious. Afterwards, attendees gathered around for a mini pitch-a-thon, where four young artists, @TeresaMelvinart, @RainbowMosho, and Mini-Hackers, presented their work to a set of judges, Debra Nipp from 3Spaces and Avalanche, @ArtOnAvax. They each pitched their businesses, answered questions from the judges and won prize money.
Overall, the Miss O Cool Girl event was a resounding success, providing an opportunity for young girls to learn about blockchain technology while showcasing the work of young artists. The event was a testament to the power of innovation and creativity in creating memorable experiences for attendees, and I am excited that MintKit’s integration could add an extra layer of interactivity and brand engagement for Miss O and Friends.
