Article from January, February CoinQueens Journal
Our Web3 journey went from casual Friday meetings to being in a global incubator to product testing with established and up and coming brands.
Q: TELL US YOUR COINQUEENS ORIGIN STORY. HOW DID YOU GET HERE?
A: (DAVIDA) I first met CoinQueens (CQ) founder Heather through our shared involvement in web3 communities like Hug & BFF. I was struck by her focus on creating a more personalized and relevant onboarding experience to the crypto space. And her dedication to action and no hype made a strong impression on me.
When Heather announced the CoinQueens community, both Jen and I attended the intro event. And after learning more about the vision and the community of strong women in the group, it was a clear decision for us to join. It has been one of the best decisions we made as web3 builders and curious individuals looking to learn, create, and do more.
Q: Was MintKit the first project you worked on?
A: (DAVIDA) Our first Web3 project was based on Jen’s amazing IP the Pincurl Girls. The brand is really fun and uplifting, and all about encouraging bravery & action towards goals.
Q: How did you guys start working together/meet?
A: (DAVIDA) We met about 6 years ago at a startup workshop in Lincoln, Nebraska, and had been in casual contact as Jen leads online art classes that my child attended.
When NFTs came across my radar in late 2021, I was excited but overwhelmed and just wanted someone to talk to about it. Jen is someone who loves creating and trying new things plus has the art expertise that made me think of her as a good person to reach out to her.
Q: How did you learn about Web3?
A: (JEN) Davida and I started meeting every Friday on Zoom. (I looked forward to those meetings so much!!!) We shared YouTube links and chatted generative art, OpenSea collections, figuring out how to open a wallet, convert currencies, gas & all the things.
BFF’s intro video in January 2022 was a major turning point for us in seeing the potential in Web3 for brands and community building, it inspired us to think a little deeper about how we wanted to help to shape the next iteration of the internet.
So last year we pitched a web3 project to MetaAngels hoping to join their incubator program. We didn’t get in, but working together sparked something, and we were determined to continue building.
As we imagined how to move forward, we saw some really fun PFP custom designs on Twitter. And because of my background in programming and automation,I started envisioning a tool that would do all the heavy lifting and help everyone design with their PFPs and create their own assets. And we ended up pivoting to create MintKit.
Q: What is MintKit?
A: (JEN) MintKit is a tool that allows NFT holders to ability to design phone wallpapers, Twitter banners, and other designs featuring their fav PFPs. It is an easy-to-use tool that does not require design expertise and is fun to play with.
Q: What are MintKit’s benefits?
A: (DAVIDA) For artists, MintKit extends the life of their collections and they can reuse assets they already created.
For collections and community managers, MintKit increases engagement, brand recognition and drives conversations with user-generated content.
